These boardings resulted in an unprecedented 47% of those vessels found in violation of fishing regulations with illegal catch onboard valued at $6.4M.
Supervised open-source intelligence process throughout the unit during a period of heightened political tensions ahead of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Elections. Coordinated with local units and intelligence community partners to ensure critical threat information was provided to units during unregulated political events, including unpermitted boat parades that brought thousands of boaters to the area.

Oversaw the approval of the Coast Guard’s Operational Requirements Document for the $10.1 billion Offshore Patrol Cutter acquisition by the Department of Homeland Security. Enabled the program to move forward with soliciting for designs from shipbuilders, keeping the program on time.
Liaised with Ship Design Team to identify cost effective requirements and demonstrate proof of concept for Offshore Patrol Cutter design. Provided clear direction for project goals to align Program Manager and Sponsor efforts, ensuring project remained on track and met acquisition milestones.
Developed comprehensive fleet-wide homeporting plan, accounting for changes to fleet mix and new requirements. Accounted for the condition of ships, delivery of new assets, and decommissioning schedule of legacy assets to ensure appropriate fleet mix that reduced Coast Guard operational impacts. Plan minimized homeport shifts, resulting in a net savings to the Coast Guard of approximately $10M over a ten-year period.
Provided direct feedback to managers and executive leadership on project status, challenges, and potential paths forward for the project. Prepared and executed navigation plans for four 24-hour Suez Canal transits and over 30 navigation plans for port visits across Southern Europe, West Africa, North Africa, and East Africa. Successfully ensured timely arrival at port visits to onload supplies and logistics during the 7-month deployment.

Served as First Lieutenant, overseeing ship’s Deck Department. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of ship’s small boats, rescue and survival gear program, anchor and mooring line equipment, and overall appearance of ship’s exterior. Proactive maintenance regime reduced costs by preventing major equipment casualties, saving the unit and the Coast Guard several hundred thousand over a five-year period.
Managed shipboard Law Enforcement program. Served as primary boarding officer for counternarcotics boardings. Established policies and procedures for use of the ship’s newly acquired over-the-horizon cutter boat for long-range interdictions. Established the unit's first team, effectively managing training, qualification, and practical experience to ensure continued capability in the future.
Served as Deck Watch Officer, safely navigating the ship over 20,000 nautical miles during five Joint Interagency Task Force – South counternarcotics patrols and one Coast Guard First District fisheries enforcement patrol. Responsibly ensured the safety of the multimillion dollar ship and the lives of 100 crewmembers.
Supervised weapons systems maintenance and operations, ensuring full operational capability. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of shipboard fire control system. Successfully led unit through a rigorous technical weapons inspection with only a handful of minor discrepancies and extremely high praise from the inspection team.

Award for recognized sustained performance of the Sector Long Island Sound Intelligence Staff during the 2020 calendar year. Period of performance recognized increased performance despite challenges of operating during a global pandemic, team lead intelligence-driven operations that resulted in a 233% increase in vessel boardings and a 47% increase in illegal fishing violations valued at over $6.4M in illegal catch.
